Updates from the project | December 2021

Development and production of novel LiC is one of the key elements for the success of the HEROES project. Beyonder has since start of the project, emphasised on development and producing cells to be transported to partners including ElringKlinger in Germany for testing and designing models, and for cell characterisation by the Institute of Energy Technique in Norway. Aalborg University in Denmark will also receive cells in January for development of SoX algorithms (state-of-charge, state-of-health, and state-of-power) for the LiC cells. As LiC is a new technology, the development has been challenging, but the results so far look very promising. Lithium Balance in Denmark has started designing racks for the models. SIEMENS is going to develop a DC/DC converter and an energy management system and has started planning for this work. SIEMENS will deliver their first report December 2021. Be-storage who will be responsible for the pilot has so far focused mainly on standards applicable for the system. For marketing and demonstration of the sustainability of the project, EASE has developed a homepage and a communication and dissemination plan together with Sustainable Innovation, and ENSO is working on questionnaire for partners to fill out for the life cycle analysis (LCA), life cycle cost (LCC) calculation and the energy saving calculations. All deliveries are until date delivered on time. At the same time, it is now the project partners really start cooperating on the technical challenges.
